Faith Becomes Grace: Behind the Scenes
No action is “good enough” to provide your own salvation.
We hope people understand that point when they visit our website or our booths at the many festivals we attend. We have good company on that point — it was Paul’s emphasis when he penned this verse:
“For it is by grace you have been saved through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God” Ephesians 2:8.
As we’re showing people favorite t-shirts, we often point out what we call “the fish shirt” (named because it has the Christian ichthys symbol on the front). Everyone loves it, especially when we show them the scripture on the back. And many times, this leads into deeper conversations on what we think “saved by grace” means.
You can do the same thing when you wear this shirt. It’s a perfect opportunity to simply explain that being “saved by grace” means to be delivered from the judgement of God through no act of your own, but by His favor. God loves, forgives, and saves us not because of who we are or what we do, but because of the work of Jesus. Grace is absolutely necessary, and we must live our lives by faith. Don’t be afraid to share your faith. You never know who you might touch at just the right moment.
For many, many years, we would have been scared to have the conversations we’re having today. We probably would’ve said that we didn’t know the Bible well enough or that we were afraid we wouldn’t have the right worlds to say. But with Jesus, we’ve taken baby steps of faith and those conversations have become easier. We feel like we’re impacting people’s lives, even with just a simple conversation over a t-shirt. And you can too!
